DOT STATEMENT ON THE ACTIVITIES OF THE TAAL VOLCANO
The Department of Tourism (DOT) strongly advises tourists and tourism operators in high-risk areas near the Taal Volcano to evacuate and take precautionary measures in light of the Alert Level 3 hoisted by the Department of Science and Technology – Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (DOST-PHIVOLCS) due to “magmatic unrest” at Taal’s main crater.
The DOT likewise encourages tourists to postpone any tourism activity and non-essential travel to high-risk towns of Agoncillo and Laurel, Batangas until the PHIVOLCS declares it safe to be in the vicinity.
We would also like to remind the public that Taal Volcano Island is a Permanent Danger Zone and entry is prohibited.
The health and safety of our visitors and the locals remains the top priority of the DOT during this time.
Tourists that will need assistance may contact the DOT CALABARZON Regional Office through telephone (049) 508-0741 and email dot4a@tourism.gov.ph.
